Assessment of Street Tree Diversity, Structure and Protection in Planned and Unplanned Neighborhoods of Lubumbashi City (DR Congo)

Street trees are always considered a vital part of urban green infrastructure in urbanized areas through mitigating the negative effects caused by urbanization taking human well-being. However, little is still known about their diversity, structure and protection, mostly Lubumbashi city Democratic Republic Congo (DR Congo), where pace not only rapid but also unplanned. In this study, using an inventory, we have characterized protection measures street along land-use planning gradient for both planned unplanned neighborhoods. From results, total 1596 were encountered, comprising 40 species, 33 genera 17 families, dominated exotic species (65%). addition, most studied (63%) belonged to four (Jacaranda mimosifolia, Leucaena leucocephala, Mangifera indica, Acacia auriculiformis) with leucocephala Jacaranda mimosifolia being highly represented neighborhoods, respectively. The abundant diameter classes neighborhoods those at 10 cm against larger than 50 equipment represent less 35%. Furthermore, notably, nearly half observed good condition. Despite benefits associated trees, there need reduce proportion tree planting native utilitarian species.
